Russia's Impex Analyzer : Demonstration Version
1. General Installation Notes
The following items describe known issues, behavior, and functionality that can affect installation of Russia's Impex Analyzer.
Minimum system requirements
* Intel Pentium 166 MHz or higher (P2 400 MHz recommended)
* Platform - All versions of Microsoft Windows
* 256 Mb
* VGA or higher resolution monitor
* Recommended screen resolution: 1024 x 768
* Color depth: 256 colors
* Mouse or other pointing device
To Install Russia's Impex Analyzer on your computer click on the setup.exe icon. The installation wizard will guide you through the installation process.
It is highly recommended that you install the program in your computer default programs folder, which is normally C:\Program Files\Impex Analyzer
The installer will automatically create the necessary folder for Russia's Impex Analyzer under default directory. So you don't have to worry much about this.
During installation you may be paused with a dialog whether to replace some in-use DLL files on your computer. Choose "Ignore" .
In many cases, rebooting after installation is not necessary. However, the installer may update some Windows system components, which will require you to reboot at the end of the installation. In addition, if you are installing on Windows 95/98 or Windows Me, you may wish to reboot to have your PATH environment updated.
All files replaced (if any) during installation are copied and saved into backup folder on your computer.
UNINSTALLING Russia's Impex Analyzer from your computer
To uninstall Russia's Impex Analyzer from your computer, you can perform either the following:
* Open the Control Panel
* Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon
* Select Russia's Impex Analyzer from the list
* Click the Add/Remove button
* Follow the instructions.
* Open the default Folder: C:\Program Files\Impex Analyzer
* Double click the uninstall.exe (unwise.exe) icon
* Follow the instructions.
The backup files changed and saved during installation will be rolled back to their original state - provided you have not installed any other program(s) after you have installed Analyzer.
3. Solutions to known Installation problems and bugs
3.1. The most common installation
problem is absence or misconfiguration of Borland Database Engine (BDE)
on your computer.
Please note that Russia's Impex Analyzer is one of the many programs that uses Borland Database Engine (BDE) to work with database.
Therefore for Russia's Impex Analyzer function at all on your computer, you must have Borland Database Engine (BDE) installed on your computer.
Russia's Impex Analyzer is distributed with Borland Database Engine (BDE) utilities, which is automatically installed on your computer during installation.
BDE is installed to the default Programs directory C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE
However, if you already have BDE installed on your computer prior to the installation of Russia's Impex Analyzer, then you can skip installation of
BDE in the dialog box during installation.
3.2. If your computer default interface language is different from english, even though Russia's Impex Analyzer will load normally (provided BDE is installed), you may encounter problem with the english (latin) alphabets in the database.
Open the Windows Control Panel and click BDE Administrator icon
In the tabsheet choose: Configuration|Drivers|DBASE
In the opposite window to the right (Definition) choose LANGDRIVER
From the dropdown list choose the necessary language driver which is: 'ascii'ANSI
On the main menu, choose Object|Apply for the changes to take effect
You can also change the System|Formats for compatibility :
Date|Separator should be . (dot),
Numbers|DECIMAL SEPARATOR is also . (dot)
On the main menu, choose Object|Apply for the changes to be effective
NOTE: Each time you make changes to any item in the BDE Administrator, you must choose Object|Apply for the changes to be effective.
Close the BDE Administrator. Re-boot your computer. Russia's Impex Analyzer should function properly
3.3. Problems experienced
with date formats. Please note that the date format used in the database
is dot format, that is : DD.MM.YY , where
DD - means day
MM - means month
YY - means year
Therefore if the standard date format on your computer is different from the above (for example DD/MM/YY, then you may encounter problems working with the database included with the Russia's Impex Analyzer. Russia's Impex Analyzer on startup will attempt to change the date format to required format. But if your windows' stardard configuration file is read only, these change may be imposible.
Solution: change the date format manually.
3.4. Problems with Number formats.
If your default number format is different from metric, you may encounter
problems working with the database included in the Russia's Impex Analyzer.
Russia's Impex Analyzer on startup will attempt to change the date format
to required format. But if your windows' stardard configuration file
is read only, these change may be imposible.
Solution: change the Number format manually.
